Is there something in your life that just doesn’t feel right? Are you feeling chronic fatigue? Are you having digestive issues? Are you experiencing depression or anxiety from time to time for no apparent reason? Are you missing some much needed sleep? Have you recently had bloodwork and your doctor wasn’t happy with the results? Are you battling a “lifestyle disease” or chronic illness? Is your immune system sluggish and you’re catching everything going around? Are your joints achy and sore most of the time?
If you can answer yes to any of the questions above, this is your body “talking” to you, telling you it is out of balance… this may very well be your wake-up call!
“I believe that at some point in their life, everyone will receive a wake-up call—for some, the call will be more devastating than for others. Some will listen to that call and improve their lives for the better, and others clearly will miss the call. A wake-up call can come in a variety of shapes and sizes. It can be an illness or a divorce, the loss of a job or the loss of a loved one. Whatever its form, the wake-up call serves as that pivotal event in our lives that reaches deep into the gut, into the essence of who we are, and asks us to rise above it, make changes, and wake up to life!” -ROOTS2Wellness
Although I have tremendous respect for Western medicine, they typically prescribe a medication to address the issue, often masking the underlying condition. Having said that I believe it is important to work with your doctor to run some tests and understand what is happening in the body. I just don’t believe that meds are always the best answer.
Most of my clients come to me after they have worked with their doctor and they still are not feeling well, or they have side effects from the meds. They know and are ready to make a lifestyle change. Here are the steps I take when working with a new client.
1. LISTEN - I listen intently to my client and learn all I can about their symptoms, their day-to-day lifestyle, and how they are feeling about their condition.
2. QUESTION – I ask many questions about not just their symptoms, but every aspect of their lifestyle and how they are feeling about whatever is troubling them.
3. UNEARTH – Together we work to unearth what may be at the root of the problem. We look at their happiness scale, their daily stressors, possible food triggers, and any other lifestyle factors that may be contributing to their dis-ease.
4. WEED – We identify obstacles that may be standing in their way to healing.
5. DETOX – I set up a plan for a healthful and gentle detoxification to rid the body of parasites, bring the gut into balance, and decrease inflammation, setting the stage for healing.
6. NOURISH – We make a well-rounded plan to nourish the mind, body, and soul back to health. This may include whole food supplementation, dietary changes, shifting negative thought patterns, making other lifestyle changes, and possibly incorporating other healing modalities.
7. CHEER – I will be your biggest cheerleader and mentor, but ultimately, it is up to you to do the work. Communication is key! When you get frustrated, you reach out to me and we course-correct together.
8. MAINTENANCE – maintaining the new you takes commitment and is the key to preventing further dis-ease in the body. Not to worry, I’ve got your back!
